Donuts of Delight !

Oliboli Donuts in Tustin is a treasure. I took a trip to Oliboli with my wife and daughter this past Saturday. Entering the donut shop you are welcomed by staff that is very helpful. There is a nice selection of creatively crafted donut gems. My wife and I picked out 4 different selections.

Peanut Butter Banana- Tasty with great peanut and banana flavor.

Vegan Bibingka Coconut cake – If you are looking for a crunchy vegan cake donut this would work.

Oli Bollen- The namesake…..a Dutch Gem. These donuts are highly recommended they practically melted in our mouth.

Oeup- Delicious fry bread with ricotta cheese , bearnaise sauce, poached egg and fresh herbs were a savory addition to our experience.

Beer Tasting with Food Recommendations. Allagash White.

  • “Allagash is a beer that should be considered one of your go to choices”

Allagash White is a Belgian style witbier consisting of a spice blend, coriander and curaçao orange peel. It is light and refreshing. Brewed out of Portland, Maine this beer is worthy of space in your fridge.

Pairing with Allagash today I have 2 mouth watering dishes.

Kale Salad with Fried Goat Cheese and Shallot Citrus Dressing.

Prep the salad

Combine Kale, toasted almonds , strawberries, green apples , orange segments in a bowl.

Prep the fried goat cheese

Chill the goat cheese, slice into medallions, bread in panko and pan fry, pat dry and set aside.

Prep the dressing

In a bowl mix diced shallots, orange and lemon juice and zest, minced fresh sage, salt and black pepper, rice vinegar, drizzle in olive oil as you whisk together.

Assemble the dish

Toss the salad with the dressing to taste, serve on desired dish, top with fried goat cheese, drizzle with honey, and drink with your chilled Allagash!

Corn Starch Fried Shrimp with Jalapeño Marmalade Glaze

Prepare the Glaze

Saute diced jalapeno, add orange juice, marmalade, honey reduce until thickened.

Prepare the shrimp

Toss the peeled and deveined shrimp in cornstarch until coated fry in heated vegetable oil until golden brown.

Assemble the dish

Toss the shrimp into the marmalade glaze and coat, place on dish, top with black sesame seeds and fresh cut green onion. Enjoy with your chilled Allagash.
